Bob and I have just returned from teaching Module One and Two in Ireland, and then Module Three in Germany. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced all three in a row. It’s a powerful experience and reminds me more than ever that SourcePoint training is not only about learning techniques; it’s a personal healing journey.

This time, I felt an infinitesimal and yet huge shift in my perspective, my body, my mind: the continuing shift towards health as my context. Of course I have been aware of that principle all along and felt myself changed by it: that in SourcePoint we focus on health, not specific illness, not the story of disease. But this time, something happened. We’ve all had that experience, when what we are told, and repeat, becomes suddenly, deeply real.

I saw, looking back over years and years, my focus on and fascination with my symptoms, how they have defined my reality. I have experienced firsthand what we talk about in SourcePoint: becoming organized around my trauma rather than the inherent health present in my connection to the Blueprint. I am not making a judgment about that. I evidently had to learn to pay attention to what was happening in my body and take care of myself, and to understand the nature and the message of the symptoms. I had to learn to value this precious body. To believe in this body and its inherent health, to shift the emphasis from my story.

What is health? That question comes all the time. I see now it is the very existence of this body, right here, just as it is, with all its imperfections and imbalances. It’s that simple. What is health? It’s life. The incomprehensibly powerful thrust of the universal life force energy into material being is pure wellness; it is Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, it is the activity of the Blueprint.

Everyone of us has that force within us now. Not some day in the future, maybe, when we get better. It’s there always, when we are sick, when we are tired, when we are depressed, when we are happy, when we are born, and yes, when we are dying.

In this body we are riding a wave of health, of life force manifesting. The more connected we are to our fundamental reality, the blueprint of health, the longer the wave, perhaps. It all depends. On how the forces we experience while in the body, the forces of trauma and karma, and ancestry and environment, to name a few, interact with that force of inherent health. Our choices have a lot to do with our state of health but they are not the only defining factor. Trauma, karma, ancestry, and environment are powerful forces also. The awareness we bring to our experience, the love we give and receive, how we communicate with others, the connection to the greater Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, so much affects health.

However, the simple fact is, health is a powerful presence in our lives, innately, inherently, undeniably. The more we focus on it, the stronger we get.

And, I can say from personal experience, a simple daily practice of Diamond Points, Guardian Points and Navel Point provides a clear, directed, powerful way to focus on health, to call it forth, to enter into it, to experience it.

(If you haven’t yet experienced SourcePoint training, the Diamond Point Meditation from our book is a way to begin)

Spanda: The Creative Vibration and Movement of Universal Energy

Continuing the exploration of echoes of ancient wisdom in the principles of SourcePoint. This time from the book “The Doctrine of Vibration: An Analysis of the Doctrines and Practices of Kashmiri Shivaism” by Mark S. C. Dyckowski. From Chapter 3, ‘The Universal Activity of Universal Consciousness.’

If you take the time to read this, notice how the words themselves carry the vibration they speak of. Immersing oneself in the vocabulary of the cosmic order indeed connects one to that cosmic order.

The author here is speaking of “Spanda.” Spanda, in Sanskrit, is a word that describes the inherent creative vibration of the Absolute, the Universal Energy, as it moves into and manifests as vibrant form. That vibration is present in every natural form, it whispers and breathes and pulses in the depths of our being. It is regarded as the source of life itself.

” The motion of absolute consciousness is a creative movement, a transition from an uncreated state of Being to the created state of Becoming. In this sense, Being is in a state of perpetual Becoming; it constantly phenomenalises into finite expression…. Thus, the universal character of Being is expressed in the radiant form of each phenomena. Rightly understood, Being and Becoming are the inner and outer faces of universal consciousness which becomes spontaneously manifest, through its inherent power, as this polarity…”

Let’s look at this from the SourcePoint perspective.

In SourcePoint we would say that this pulsation, this vibration, carries the information of what we call the Blueprint, the information of Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow, inherent in Source.

Reflect on the statement ..”Being is in a perpetual state of Becoming…” Not only becoming, but becoming ITSELF, that is, a natural finite expression of the inherent Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. Holding the Diamond Points, connecting with the Diamond Points through our energy work practice or meditation,we are connecting with that creative moment, Being into Becoming, that moment of manifestation. As we dwell in that moment we are nourished, strengthened, supported. We are naturally brought into further alignment with that Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow that is our fundamental nature; the ground of our life, our health and our well-being.

We can say, to paraphrase and modify, that the universal character of Being is expressed in the radiant form of each of us. In each person who walks in the door asking for help. In each person we encounter each day. And in ourselves. We can say that each of us is the outer face of the universal consciousness, radiantly manifest. As we begin to know ourselves in that way, it changes… everything.

Ancient Wisdom

I love exploring writings of ancient wisdom and finding resonances with SourcePoint. My current source is “The Dawning Moon of the Mind: Unlocking the Pyramid Texts” by Susan Brind Morrow. It’s a new and brilliant, poetic and spirit-filled, translation. The Pyramid Texts are etched on the walls of a burial chamber of a long ago pharaoh, Unis (also known as Unas).

As Morrow interprets these verses, they are instructions for the soul of Unis and its journey upon death. Really, any soul. And the texts are explorations of the nature of soul, self, universe and Source.

Here’s what she says of a passage from the Antechamber, North Wall. She’s discussing hieroglyphs of falcons, twin falcons:

The twin is the Platonic concept of the template: you exist before you exist, and you exist after you exist, because there is a pattern that is the template for your existence, the geometric essence of your existence….(p.71)

So once again, in the 24th century BC, engraved in symbols on a stone wall, we find evidence of the deep knowledge of what we call the Blueprint. That’s exactly how we define the Blueprint of health for the human being that we work with in SourcePoint; it is the template for our existence. There is power in lineage, and the Blueprint has its lineage, it has been known in some form always by ancient cultures, its presence can be found in cultures and times throughout the world and its history.

Here’s more from these same texts. …’ma’a’ (is) the Egyptian word for ‘truth,’ which comes into Greek as ‘moira,’ ‘fate.’ The hieroglyphic word is spelled with a ruler, indicating that measurement is ultimate truth, the cosmic order, the invisible underlying pattern that manifests in geometry, in astronomy, in sound.

Morrow continues, The hieroglyphic word ‘herw’ [sound, vibration] is often paired with the word ma’a ‘truth’ as the noble goal of life: one strives at death to have accomplished ‘ma’a herw,’ not to speak the truth or have a true voice but to be true to the clean underlying pattern of what one is, the ma’a herw- the true vibration, the vibration of truth. (p.88)

This strikes me as another way of describing the Blueprint, the deepest truth of our being, of who we are. The Blueprint contains the essential information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow necessary for matter and life to manifest from the universal energy. The Blueprint is our fundamental truth, what we all have in common as human beings. We embody that Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, that truth. We are the vibration of truth.

Here’s more on truth from “The Dawning Moon of the Mind.:”

Ma’at, the embodiment of truth, marked with a feather, is the continuous, measured uncontrollable movement through space that is the natural order of things. The truth is the innate order of the universe that underlies life on earth as a physical reality. It is visible at any time and contradicts the assumption that death is the ultimate reality. The ultimate reality is the underlying order and its pervasive beauty. Even disorder is ruled by, folds into and emerges from ultimate order. (p.216)

Life and death are inextricably intertwined, their rhythm is that of the cosmic order, the natural order. In the material world, we live with polarities, everything contains the seed of its opposite. Thus from order, disorder can arise. From balance, imbalance, from harmony, disharmony, and from flow, rigidity. But the opposite is inevitably true, and so from disorder, order can return, and so on.  Cycles and spirals and turnings of wheels within wheels. What a marvelous universe is our home. What a marvelous awareness allows us to experience ourselves, our true nature, the fundamental beauty that everything is, that we are.

On this night of the full moon of February 10, 2017, I wish you the experience of the fullness of who you are, the beauty of your fundamental nature, the wisdom of your essential mind, and the love that dwells in the heart of everything.

Intention, Context and Belief Systems

01The Blueprint of Perfect Health

Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow

Painting by Bob Schrei

SourcePoint Therapy is founded on the intention to connect to the information of the Blueprint and to allow that information to work in the human body to bring greater Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. All the practices are simply ways to do this.

When we connect to the Blueprint of health for human being, we shift the context of our work (on ourselves, or for another) from illness to health. The Blueprint becomes the context. Your context becomes Order, Balance, Harmony, and Flow, health, rather than ill-health. If you are a practitioner, as soon as your clients walk into the room, they are walking into a field of health.

The intention of the SourcePoint practitioner is entirely focused on health.

Often when discussing this, people ask for a definition of health. For the purposes of practicing SourcePoint, essentially, health is health. It isn’t necessary to analyze. The word itself carries the vibration of health. Don’t be distracted by debating the point, just focus on HEALTH. Assume the Blueprint knows what health is!

The context shifts as soon as the practitioner holds the Diamond Points, as soon as the blockage is addressed; all this shifts the context.

When there is this focus on health, people leave your environment with a lot of new information about health, in the body, the mind, and the spirit.

For most people their belief systems are their context, and their belief systems arise from their experience. Part of what you are working with in shifting context is to help a person (or yourself) to begin to believe in the possibility of health. If a person has a chronic illness, negative belief systems can develop about the possibility of getting well. It is harder for healing to happen in that context.

“Context” is an actual energetic structure, created by the thought-forms that populate the energy field, including the body. Belief systems are actual energetic structures. It isn’t necessary to see them, but understand that the energy and information of a belief system can work for years, for lifetimes, after a trauma, to overwhelm the healthy energetic structure. In SourcePoint we work with energetic structures that arise from the Blueprint of health.

From the SourcePoint perspective it isn’t necessary to identify the belief systems that are affecting a person. Very often they are unconscious. This is what is very confusing for people when they want to do affirmations for healing. The conscious mind is saying the affirmation and the unconscious is actively holding on to the unconscious belief system.

SourcePoint Therapy provides a way to address these belief systems without having to uncover them all and examine them in detail. You don’t have to argue with yourself, you don’t have to find affirmations to antidote old belief systems. Connecting to the Blueprint, grounding in the information of the Blueprint, allows the Blueprint to shift the context to health rather than ill-health.

Shifts in context require patience and effort. They don’t just happen overnight. Intentions are powerful, but to actually shift your own context, let alone help to shift someone else’s, takes that patience and effort.

Practitioners’ belief systems also start to change as they see the result of focusing on health, connecting to the Blueprint. This shift in the practitioner facilitates the work. If you truly believe with all your heart that the person who walks into the room has the potential for health inherent in them and that there is a way of awakening that potential for health, then that is going to make a difference in your interaction with the person, in the way that the client feels, and eventually in their physical progress.

Remember, it is actually the Blueprint that is shifting the context, but your activity as a practitioner in connecting with the Blueprint, connecting the client, believing in that full potential for health, all this is something you can do, for the benefit of yourself and others.

Interdependence

“We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Yesterday in the United States was a national holiday, Independence Day. It’s actually a good time to reflect on the principle of interdependence. We each have our own unique individuality, and at the same time we are part of a web of being that stretches from our hearts to the farthest reaches of the universe.

We find this truth in spiritual traditions, in every indigenous culture, in the explorations of modern physics, and in the heart. To remember this truth brings inner peace and a different perspective on our daily life.

The following brief readings give you words to reflect on, to absorb into yourself, to help awaken the memory of connection, belonging, and wholeness.

All the principles and practices of SourcePoint are founded on this truth.

For your conceptual mind, from Lynne McTaggart, The Bond: Connecting through the Space Between Us:

“The latest evidence from quantum physics offers the extraordinary possibility that all of life exists in a dynamic relationship of co-operation. Quantum physicists now recognize that the universe is not a collection of separate things jostling around in empty space. All matter exists in a vast quantum web of connection, and a living thing at its most elemental is an energy system involved in a constant transfer of information with its environment… Frontier biologists, psychologists and sociologists have all found evidence that individuals are far less individual than we thought they were. Between the smallest particles of our being, between ourselves and all of the people with whom we are in contact, between every member of every societal cluster, there is a Bond – a connection so integral and profound that there is no longer a clear demarcation between the end of one thing, and the beginning of another. The world essentially operates, not through the activity of individual things, but in the connection between them — in a sense, in the space between things.

For your heart, from Ervin Laszlo, in the introduction to Science and the Akashic Field:

“Come.

sail with me on a quiet pond.

The shores are shrouded,

the surface smooth.

We are vessels on the pond

and we are one with the pond.

A fine wake spreads out behind us,

traveling through misty waters.

Its subtle waves register our passage.

Your wake and mine coalesce,

they form a pattern that mirrors

your movement as well as mine.

As other vessels, who are also us,

sail the pond that is us as well,

their waves intersect with both of ours.

The pond’s surface comes alive

with wave upon wave, ripple upon ripple.

They are the memory of our movement;

the traces of our being.

The waters whisper from you to me and from me to you,

and from both of us to all others who sail the pond.

Our separateness is an illusion;

we are interconnected parts of the whole –

we are a pond with movement and memory.

Our reality is larger than you and me,

and all the vessels that sail the waters,

and all the waters on which they sail.

In teaching SourcePoint Therapy® we say to people, over and over: the true practice of energy medicine requires a radical re-definition of self.

It’s virtually impossible to go deep into working with energy and maintain your illusion of a separate self.

Which brings us naturally to the question of boundaries 🙂 A subject for the next post.

Her Loom of Light that Becomes the Body by Bob Schrei

Her Loom of Light that Becomes the Body

Born from light

into light

You return again to know yourself as light.

You are born from a precise order

a delicate balance

an eternal harmony

from the flow of the river

the cresting of the tide.

Born from the Mother of Mothers

the matrix

that nourishes and sustains.

You

are the exquisite expression of

Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

The perfection of all creation is yours.

You are woven into the shimmering fabric

of the starry night

the green of earth, blue of water

gold of sun, silver of moon.

A weaving of light and dark

skin and bone, heart and soul

an infinite vibration

a mandala of one arm span.

Light is the loom, love is the thread.

You are woven with love

a care and attention beyond imagining

from Her loom of light

that becomes

the body.

Do you know what that body is?

Look in the mirror of yourself.

The love you long for

the truth you seek —

You will find it in the whisper of your breath

the rhythm of your heart

the flow of your blood

the dance of your cells.

See your self as the pure and intricate reflection

of the cosmic Order

and love that self

with all your heart.

In this moment

just as you are

whole and complete

lacking nothing.

A SourcePoint Perspective on the Chakras

By | Published:

photo

A Chakra is described as an energy structure within the human body, a turning wheel, a center of Prana, or life force. In different spiritual as well as energy healing traditions working with the chakras is an important aspect of spiritual development and/or physical health. There are practices for balancing the chakras; there are spiritual practices to encourage and direct the Kundalini energy, centered originally in the root chakra, in its upward movement to the third eye and crown Chakras. There are major Chakras and minor ones, as well as Nadis, or channels for energy, that radiate from the Chakras, throughout and around the physical body. In some systems there are four major Chakras; in others seven. Different perspectives describe the energy body differently.

In SourcePoint energy work we do not seek to work with individual chakras directly for the purpose of balancing them. From the SourcePoint view, the Chakras and the Nadis are structures within the inner temple of the body, the underlying energetic armature of the body that arises from the information and energy of the Blueprint. So, as always, our task is to assist in bringing the information of the Blueprint to the body; that information will do what it needs to do to balance the Chakras, to strengthen those that are vulnerable, to soothe those that are overactive.

We look at the Chakras as transfer mechanisms within the physical body; energetic structures that receive the information of the Blueprint and transmit it throughout the human body. Therefore it makes sense that the Blueprint itself will address any imbalance in the Chakras, and the important foundation again is strengthening that connection and addressing any blockages. The connection is made through the Diamond and other points we work with.

However, we have several protocols in SourcePoint that can be used to assist in that process of strengthening the connection to the Blueprint, and helping it it to do its work. The Gold Point in the Chakras is one of these. It is simple to learn and to practice, and is also a simple self-help protocol for connecting to the Blueprint and bringing in that information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. The Gold Point is a technique in SourcePoint Therapy that helps to connect the body to its original Source. Focusing attention on the Gold Point in the Chakras strengthens the hub of the wheel of the Chakra, and whenever one is working with gold, there is a cleansing and purifying effect energetically. This is an additional practice to strengthen the mid-line and bring balance to the organizing forces of the body. This practice is taught in SourcePoint Module Two but here we can describe the function and location of each of the chakras from the SourcePoint Perspective.

From the SourcePoint perspective we work with the chakras from the Crown Chakra to the Root Chakra, not from bottom to top as is often done. Our purpose is to ground the information of the Blueprint in the physical body. The Crown Chakra Point, on the top of the head, is a “portal” point. It opens the connection to the Blueprint. Beginning with this point, you draw in the information of the Blueprint, of the cosmic order, to organize and balance the Chakras, so that they can better receive and transmit the information of the Blueprint. That’s why we begin at the crown. The Transformation Point is directly above, so there is a direct line to the transformative information of the Blueprint. As one moves the hand down from Chakra to Chakra, following the mid-line of the body, you strengthen that energetic mid-line. This technique not only organizes the energies within each individual center; it integrates, connects and repairs any damaged energetic circuitry between the Chakras.

The Chakras assist in organizing the information of the Blueprint in the body and in aligning the personal self with that information. The Chakras are very much about bringing the information of the Blueprint to the specific personal self: to the personality, will, emotion and karma of the self. Here are the functions of each chakra from the SourcePoint perspective.

The Crown Chakra Point (located in the center of the top of the head): This is a portal: a direct connection to the cosmic Order, to the information of the Blueprint, with the specific purpose and intention of organizing, balancing and harmonizing the Chakras so they can better perform their task of receiving and transmitting the information of the Blueprint.

Third-Eye Chakra Point (located in the center of the forehead): assists in opening to spiritual vision informed by the information of the Blueprint; gaining more direct access to that information for guidance in one’s personal life.

Throat Chakra Point (located in the center of the throat directly above the collarbone): assists in opening the channel for personal expression that is in alignment with the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow present in the Blueprint.

Heart Chakra Point (located in the center of the sternum): assists in opening the channel for receiving and giving love; aligns the emotional, feeling self with the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

Solar Plexus Chakra Point (above the navel, below the ribcage): assists in bringing the personal self into alignment with the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

Sacral Chakra Point (about two fingers below the navel on the belly): assists in aligning the vital life force of the body with the Blueprint.

Root Chakra Point: (located on the lower abdomen just above the center top edge of the pubic bone): assists in spiritual evolution and the alignment of the evolutionary path of the human being in incarnation with the Blueprint.

From the SourcePoint perspective, the Crown Chakra Point and the Root Chakra Point balance each other perfectly, and reflect the balance of heaven and earth, spirit and matter, above and below, reflected as a continuum in our human existence, our human bodies. From this perspective also, the purpose of incarnation is spiritual evolution, and we are supported by universal energy in this process. The Blueprint contains the information for the highest potential of the human being. As that information interacts with the personal incarnated self through the Chakras, that process of spiritual evolution is supported, nourished and encouraged, helping to bring one’s life into greater alignment with the universal principles of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

May your New Year unfold in alignment with Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, and be filled with health and happiness!

“The Bond: Connecting Through the Space Between Us” by Lynne McTaggart

By | Published:

Entangled Pairs of Photons

Entangled Pairs of Photons at the Intersections

If I were to pick just three books to help people understand what we are doing in SourcePoint Therapy® these would be the three, and they are all by the same author, Lynne McTaggart:

The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe

The Intention Experiment

The Bond: Connecting through the Space Between Us

Each book presents a highly readable and interesting synthesis of scientific research into energy fields, the relationship of body and mind, the nature of the universal energy, the power of intention, and many other areas that relate very much to what we are doing in the practice of energy medicine, particularly SourcePoint Therapy. For example, here’s a quote from The Field in which McTaggart speaks about the Blueprint:

“What they [respected scientists] have discovered is nothing less than astonishing. At our most elemental, we are not a chemical reaction, but an energetic charge. Human beings and all living things are a coalescence of energy in a field of energy connected to every other thing in the world. This pulsating energy field is the central engine of our being and our consciousness, the alpha and omega of our existence.

There is no ‘me’ and ‘not-me’ duality to our bodies in relation to the universe, but one underlying energy field. This field is responsible for our mind’s highest functions, the information source guiding the growth of our bodies. It is our heart, our brain, our memory — indeed, a blueprint of the world for all time. The field is the force, rather than germs or genes, that finally determines whether we are healthy or ill, the force which must be tapped in order to heal.”

Thank you, Ben Hanawalt, for introducing me to the The Bond, which is McTaggart’s latest book, that, to quote its jacket blurb, “challenges the very way we conceive of ourselves and the world. The Bond shows that the essential impulse of all life is a will to connect rather than a drive to compete.”

The book doesn’t challenge my view of myself and the world; it wonderfully supports it with page after page of fascinating research and expert opinion! So, today, the rest of this post is devoted to excerpts from The Bond.

Quantum physicists now recognize that the universe is not a collection of things jostling around in empty space. All matter exists in a vast quantum web of connection, and a living thing at its most elemental is an energy system involved in a constant transfer of information with its environment.”

That, succinctly stated, is the fundamental premise of SourcePoint Therapy! We assume the environment to include the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow present in the universal energy field: the Blueprint.

The world essentially operates, not through the activity of individual things, but in the connection between them — in a sense, in the space between things… This connection –the space in between — holds the key to the life of every organism, from subatomic particles to large-scale societies, and also the key to our viable future.”

The most basic property of matter, its sense of being a solid ‘something,’ is only and entirely due to the Bond between subatomic particles and the background sea of energy. A subatomic ‘particle’ is simply the seeking of a connection in the space between a big web of energy and a little knot of energy. You and everything around you are simply a collection of charged energy having a relationship.”

Connection, connection, connection. Connection as the fundamental reality of the universe: what makes it all work. It’s our birthright and our true nature.

Wheeler’s most outrageous speculation attempted to understand the biggest mystery posed by quantum physics. The pioneers of quantum physics had demonstrated in their experiments that the only thing that seems to transform the potential something of a subatomic particle into something solid and measurable was the involvement of an observer. As soon as the scientists took a closer look at a subatomic particle by taking a measurement, the subatomic entity that existed as pure potential would “collapse” into one particular state.

The fact that a subatomic particle settles down to a set single state only when measured and observed suggested a staggering possibility to many scientists: the role of the scientist himself–or the role of living consciousness — somehow is the influence that turns the smallest elements of life into something real. This implies that the universe is a joint venture between the observing consciousness and the observed; it requires the consciousness of the observer to bring that which is observed into being.”

This point of quantum physics has always fascinated me and taken me on many journeys. What if somehow by simply holding the points we are “observing” the potential of perfect health for the human being and assisting it to manifest? Or, if we assume that the stuff of the universe is sentient consciousness, observing itself to bring itself into being, what if in some way the Blueprint observes us? What if as we connect with it, it focuses its attention on the potential of health within us and brings that into being? McTaggart quotes physicist Richard Feynman: the role of the observer is “the mystery which cannot go away.”

Experts in one field or another will often dismiss any attempt to correlate energy medicine and the findings of quantum physics, on the grounds that the laws of quantum physics do not apply to the material world. In our current consensus reality, this may be true, but it is also possible we have much to learn about our potential from the quantum reality; much to learn about our essential nature. Perhaps as we observe these realities, become conscious of them, the boundaries between quantum and material will begin to shift. I like to imagine the Points in this way, as doorways between dimensions, perhaps “points” literally at which the quantum world and this one intersect.

McTaggart references experiments by Graham Fleming, who is “making some of the first tentative forays into ‘quantum biology,’ producing the first evidence that life on earth is driven by the laws of quantum physics, and his experiment is necessarily crude.” You can read about the experiment at the beginning of the first chapter, page 3. It’s an investigation into the efficiency of energy production in plants, “how a simple living system like a plant can generate the world’s oxygen and carbohydrates through a reaction powered by the electricity that it essentially creates from light.”

The experiment involves tracking the path of electron energy inside the protein scaffolding of the cell. The result? “Rather than a single pathway, the energy reaches its target by trying out several routes simultaneously. Only when the final connection is made and the end of the road reached does the energy track its most efficient course–retroactively–and the energy follow that single path. It appears as if the optimum route were chosen backward in time, after all possibilities have been exhausted.

McTaggart says of this: “If the results of Fleming’s experiments are verified — and others have now successfully carried out the experiment on real plants at room temperatures–this will mean that the most fundamental process of the universe, the process responsible for life on earth, is driven by a mechanism that actually isn’t anything at all, at least according to our usual definition of things. The electron driving photosynthesis is a will o’ the wisp, impossible to pin down or locate with precision. Fleming’s experiment also lays bare a much larger possibility: that all life is created and sustained by something so ephemeral we may not even be able to identify what it actually is, much less locate where it is with precision.”

Given the nature of scientific research these days, and what is being discovered, it’s shortsighted of people to dismiss energy medicine as “impossible” and “unscientific,” and to assume that what is being discovered at the quantum level is inapplicable to our everyday lives. Today’s impossibility is tomorrow’s possibility is the next day’s reality. At the quantum level that whole progression would take less than milliseconds –but, here it still takes time. Centuries even, once upon a time. The process seems to be accelerating even in this world 🙂

So, this is a book for opening the mind, and wandering in the quantum realm. I invite you to journey in the mystery and possibility of the universe that is our home. And, after the journey, there you are, just as you are, with things to do and people to see, but with an expanded awareness of realities beyond the visible…

Scanning

By | Published:

In SourcePoint Therapy® we work with a scan of the body to locate blockages that are impeding the free flow of information from the energetic Blueprint of health. Recently a question arose, along these lines: “When I use the scan with clients, why am I consistently finding a blockage in the same location on the body in many different clients?”

Here is Bob’s response to that question:

I would like to share a little history here. Some of you may remember that I say in class that I simply made a choice at some point to scan everyone that came into my practice for two years before I felt comfortable and accurate with what I was perceiving. So remember, you are learning a skill that takes time, just like learning to play the piano or a new language takes time. There is the “10,000 hypothesis” which says it simply takes 10,000 hours of practice to learn anything well, be it running, tennis, an instrument or a language. Your particular chosen discipline–be it Rolfing, Acupuncture, or SourcePoint– is no different. Time and dedication and discipline are necessary. The great jazz pianist Keith Jarrett still practices every day, basic simple scales and basic structured practice. Personally I have been engaged in some form of dowsing, which the scans are, for 40 years. I feel that it has taken at least 30 of those years to get to a place where I feel that I am relatively accurate 85% of the time.

One of the things that I observed in my early years, in myself and in others, was that one’s current interests definitely influence the results. When I was interested in chakras, I found all causative factors at that level; when I was interested in homeopathy I found that that was usually the most appropriate treatment, etc. etc. etc. So it is important that you take the time to clear yourself of all preconceived notions.

Sit quietly for a couple of minutes with your client before doing anything. Develop a way that you can check with your own self whether or not you are clear enough to scan accurately; you will get an inner sense of what that feels like. Withdraw projections, and have a very clear and accurate inquiry in mind. In SourcePoint we are asking one question: Where is the primary blockage that is inhibiting the flow of information from the Blueprint?

It might help to remember that we are relating to the body as an energetic structure, a body of light, and secondarily we are holding the intention of bringing a greater level of order into the body. We are not thinking about organs, nerves, tissues, meridians, chakras, or systems of the body. I rarely find the primary blockage in an organ. But it does happen, very rarely, and similarly for the cranium.

If you notice that you are having repetitive results in your scanning there is a pretty good chance that there is something in the way you are wording the question that is not clear or that there are things in your own being that are influencing the results. When I say in class that I have noticed that a lot of blockages and entry points seem to be in the extremities, I do not mean that I see that in client after client on a repetitive basis. I mean that looking back over a dozen years of working this way, that there is a high proportion of scans that have exhibited this, not that client after clients had the same scan results. I have also said in class that I felt that it took me 25 years of exposure to cranial work before I was able to do a good cranial session. It just takes time and practice for a lot of these skills. If you are attempting to learn many skills at once, the need for time and practice levels increases.

In the end, if you are interested in energy work, it is a process of constantly working on and looking at yourself. The great osteopath, A.T Still, said that the human being is triune: Spirit, Body, and Mind. We need to be paying attention to all of these levels in ourselves as well as our clients. It is an exciting path and we are simply learning from each of our clients. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be taught in this way.

One final thought is just to remember that from the SourcePoint perspective we are not trying to clear blockages. We are simply bringing the information of the Blueprint to the blockage, just as we bring two hands together to pray and give thanks for our blessings. They are many.

Note: The video above also makes reference to scanning for the entry point. In this post we are referring specifically to the scan for the primary blockage.

SourcePoint Therapy® and Shamanic Healing

Throughout human history, traditional healers have worked with energy, with energies, with spirit guides and deities, with light. Shamans have used ritual, drama, story and song, music and imagery to bring people into alignment with the fundamental energies of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow inherent in the universal energy.

Shamanism, once dismissed as “primitive” by the western world, has experienced a resurgence of attention and practice in recent years. We are rediscovering ancient wisdom and experiencing its benefits.

People ask: what is the difference between Shamanic healing and SourcePoint Therapy? Let’s explore that and also look at the similarities. Our good friend Diane Haug teaches the Grof Holotropic Breathwork, and included in the training she does is an overview of Shamanism. Here are some of the characteristics of the Shamanic approach that she identifies and that Bob covers in his PowerPoint in Module 3.

  • Shamanism implies a connection with spirit. It implies the ability to journey in spirit to restore Order, Balance, Harmony, and Flow to the individual, the community and between the world of spirit and the human world.
  • Shamanic healing implies the ability to get out of the way and let something greater move through you.
  • A shaman is a spiritual intermediary between the realms of the secular and the sacred. Shamans travel to other worlds to meet with entities and beings from whom they can gain knowledge and bring that back to the people.
  • Illness and injury are believed to result from an impaired relationship with the supernatural. Shamanic practices link the human and spiritual world so that a proper relationship can be restored and maintained between them.

When we look at these in light of SourcePoint Therapy we see parallels. To link the human and spiritual world is our intention.  This we do by using the points and connecting to the Blueprint. However, we don’t journey in spirit, in the traditional sense. The points are the doorways to other realms. The Blueprint is the intermediary between Source and human; it has the information we need for transformation.  The points bring the information (the knowledge) needed to support health directly to the body.  There isn’t someone interpreting that information, engaging with that information, telling a story about it. It’s just … the information needed by the body, directly interacting with the body. In a certain sense, the points take the place of the shaman, in a very neutral way.

Shamans use ritual, and we have our simple rituals in SourcePoint. Holding the points, for oneself or others, is a ritual that creates an energetic structure for transformation and alignment with Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. Traditional rituals create energetic structures, containers for the work to be done, and invoke the presence of the great cosmic Order in one form or another.  Holding the points has its similarities to the invocation of the Four Directions that often precedes Native American ceremonies. What we are working with in SourcePoint, again, is simplicity: the essence. We are seeking to open the doorway to healing energies of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow without drama, without cultural identification, without investment in any religion or indigenous tradition. I’m not saying there isn’t a story, because we live in a world of story, but we try to keep it simple.

The story of SourcePoint is this: We can access the information of health for the human body from the vast store of information in the universal energy field. We can do this through using particular points in the human energy field to connect to the Blueprint.  In today’s world, physical modalities and medicines are usually necessary to bring healing, but this work at an energy level can support and enhance what is being done at the physical level.  There is no division between energy and matter, spirit and flesh.

Admittedly, this story can be as difficult for some people to believe as one of shamans flying through the air to battle spirits from another realm. People don’t need to believe this story; they just need to be open to trying something that may help alleviate their pain and suffering. They don’t have to take on a system with a long tradition of specific rituals, healers, deities, spirits, and world-view. For many people, who have a karmic affinity with a particular shamanic path, that’s absolutely what they need.  Our intention is to demystify working with energy, to open the door into what is called “non-ordinary consciousness” and help people see how that energy/consciousness can infuse our everyday life at every moment. Our belief is that everyone has the capacity to work with energy, to access the information of greater consciousness for the benefit of themselves and all beings.

However, this view brings a challenge to the SourcePoint practitioner: being willing to let go of the drama. Shamans battle spirits. In exorcism, priests cast out demonic forces. There’s a lot of drama in traditional ritual practices. We’re working with finding other ways, with the view that new information, the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, can communicate with and penetrate old dense habit patterns of body and mind. We’re always encouraging people to stay centered in the Blueprint, to allow it to work, to not get attached to the story. Often we end up perpetuating the old stories people bring us because we get involved. We react with fear or fascination. Those are the two most common deep responses, whether to our own stories or those of another. It’s a delicate balance to allow a story to emerge, with respect, loving attention and non-attachment, without reacting and getting involved. It’s a practice to be present and allow a story to pass through, to navigate the energies of release, and remember that where our attention goes, a lot of energy goes with it. Energy gets caught in the story, and as practitioners of SourcePoint it’s good to ask ourselves regularly, where is my primary focus right now? On the drama, the old story that is present in this blockage – or on the information of health, of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, the Blueprint? Am I fascinated or afraid of what’s going on here?  Or am I allowing space, bearing witness and facilitating the creation of a container that allows transformation?

These are issues and questions we’ll be addressing in our upcoming advanced trainings.

Someone recently asked about exorcism and SourcePoint Therapy. In Module Three people learn the technique for withdrawing foreign energies. When working with energy it is important to acknowledge that foreign energies can invade the individual energy field. In acupuncture these are called “pernicious influences” and can be wind, cold, heat, viruses, a wide range of invasive energies. In shamanic healing these foreign energies are identified also in many ways, as ghosts, negative entities, curses, and so on. The simple approach we teach recognizes that the individual energy field is vulnerable to invasion of energies other than itself at many different levels. Often, again, the withdrawal technique may be called for when the person isn’t getting well.  This is the closest we come to “exorcism” and it isn’t that close. We make no attempt to identify the energy, to give it a persona. The Guardian Points and the Diamond Points always accompany the withdrawal because what is withdrawn is not as important as bringing in new information. The foreign energy is simply another blockage to the free flow of information from the Blueprint. Exorcism is usually surrounded by a lot of drama. As I’ll repeat over and over, in SourcePoint Therapy we’re working with letting go of the drama. We’re not battling anything or expelling anything or casting anything out. We’re not “performing” an exorcism. We are helping the energy of the Blueprint to do its work. And that energy is imbued with the intention of restoring Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

I want to be perfectly clear: the shamanic path, with its rich wisdom and tradition, is powerful and effective. It’s not for everyone. Its essence is repairing and maintaining the connection to spirit, and we hope to provide another way to work with that principle.  We come from common ground: an awareness that our lives are rooted in a great cosmic order that is the source of our being.  It’s essential to maintain the strength of that connection for our own health and that of the world.

When you work with energy, when energy is flowing, there will be laughter and tears, there will be story, song, dance, art, music. There will be life in all its beauty and challenge, its joy and sorrow. There will be compassion, love, and awareness, the awareness that guides us through all experience, through all drama, into simple presence.
