Health

Bob and I have just returned from teaching Module One and Two in Ireland, and then Module Three in Germany. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced all three in a row. It’s a powerful experience and reminds me more than ever that SourcePoint training is not only about learning techniques; it’s a personal healing journey.

This time, I felt an infinitesimal and yet huge shift in my perspective, my body, my mind: the continuing shift towards health as my context. Of course I have been aware of that principle all along and felt myself changed by it: that in SourcePoint we focus on health, not specific illness, not the story of disease. But this time, something happened. We’ve all had that experience, when what we are told, and repeat, becomes suddenly, deeply real.

I saw, looking back over years and years, my focus on and fascination with my symptoms, how they have defined my reality. I have experienced firsthand what we talk about in SourcePoint: becoming organized around my trauma rather than the inherent health present in my connection to the Blueprint. I am not making a judgment about that. I evidently had to learn to pay attention to what was happening in my body and take care of myself, and to understand the nature and the message of the symptoms. I had to learn to value this precious body. To believe in this body and its inherent health, to shift the emphasis from my story.

What is health? That question comes all the time. I see now it is the very existence of this body, right here, just as it is, with all its imperfections and imbalances. It’s that simple. What is health? It’s life. The incomprehensibly powerful thrust of the universal life force energy into material being is pure wellness; it is Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, it is the activity of the Blueprint.

Everyone of us has that force within us now. Not some day in the future, maybe, when we get better. It’s there always, when we are sick, when we are tired, when we are depressed, when we are happy, when we are born, and yes, when we are dying.

In this body we are riding a wave of health, of life force manifesting. The more connected we are to our fundamental reality, the blueprint of health, the longer the wave, perhaps. It all depends. On how the forces we experience while in the body, the forces of trauma and karma, and ancestry and environment, to name a few, interact with that force of inherent health. Our choices have a lot to do with our state of health but they are not the only defining factor. Trauma, karma, ancestry, and environment are powerful forces also. The awareness we bring to our experience, the love we give and receive, how we communicate with others, the connection to the greater Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, so much affects health.

However, the simple fact is, health is a powerful presence in our lives, innately, inherently, undeniably. The more we focus on it, the stronger we get.

And, I can say from personal experience, a simple daily practice of Diamond Points, Guardian Points and Navel Point provides a clear, directed, powerful way to focus on health, to call it forth, to enter into it, to experience it.

(If you haven’t yet experienced SourcePoint training, the Diamond Point Meditation from our book is a way to begin)

Interdependence

“We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Yesterday in the United States was a national holiday, Independence Day. It’s actually a good time to reflect on the principle of interdependence. We each have our own unique individuality, and at the same time we are part of a web of being that stretches from our hearts to the farthest reaches of the universe.

We find this truth in spiritual traditions, in every indigenous culture, in the explorations of modern physics, and in the heart. To remember this truth brings inner peace and a different perspective on our daily life.

The following brief readings give you words to reflect on, to absorb into yourself, to help awaken the memory of connection, belonging, and wholeness.

All the principles and practices of SourcePoint are founded on this truth.

For your conceptual mind, from Lynne McTaggart, The Bond: Connecting through the Space Between Us:

“The latest evidence from quantum physics offers the extraordinary possibility that all of life exists in a dynamic relationship of co-operation. Quantum physicists now recognize that the universe is not a collection of separate things jostling around in empty space. All matter exists in a vast quantum web of connection, and a living thing at its most elemental is an energy system involved in a constant transfer of information with its environment… Frontier biologists, psychologists and sociologists have all found evidence that individuals are far less individual than we thought they were. Between the smallest particles of our being, between ourselves and all of the people with whom we are in contact, between every member of every societal cluster, there is a Bond – a connection so integral and profound that there is no longer a clear demarcation between the end of one thing, and the beginning of another. The world essentially operates, not through the activity of individual things, but in the connection between them — in a sense, in the space between things.

For your heart, from Ervin Laszlo, in the introduction to Science and the Akashic Field:

“Come.

sail with me on a quiet pond.

The shores are shrouded,

the surface smooth.

We are vessels on the pond

and we are one with the pond.

A fine wake spreads out behind us,

traveling through misty waters.

Its subtle waves register our passage.

Your wake and mine coalesce,

they form a pattern that mirrors

your movement as well as mine.

As other vessels, who are also us,

sail the pond that is us as well,

their waves intersect with both of ours.

The pond’s surface comes alive

with wave upon wave, ripple upon ripple.

They are the memory of our movement;

the traces of our being.

The waters whisper from you to me and from me to you,

and from both of us to all others who sail the pond.

Our separateness is an illusion;

we are interconnected parts of the whole –

we are a pond with movement and memory.

Our reality is larger than you and me,

and all the vessels that sail the waters,

and all the waters on which they sail.

In teaching SourcePoint Therapy® we say to people, over and over: the true practice of energy medicine requires a radical re-definition of self.

It’s virtually impossible to go deep into working with energy and maintain your illusion of a separate self.

Which brings us naturally to the question of boundaries 🙂 A subject for the next post.

Moving Freely from One Experience to Another, Always

This post could also be titled “After the Workshop.” Any SourcePoint workshop you may have attended, three years ago, or three weeks ago, this applies. Often after workshops people write to me with stories of their experiences when they return home. Mostly it goes smoothly, and they find they can integrate the work and experience of the training into their life. Often, however, people also report a difficulty in maintaining the intensity and flow of the work as they experienced it in the workshop. Of course there are questions that arise in relation to how to do the work, what does a particular client’s reaction mean, and so on, but the most common question is: I don’t feel the energy as strongly and clearly as I did in the workshop. Is there something more I should be doing? What can I do to return to that experience?

First, remember that this shift is not about what you personally are doing or not doing. That shift in frequency you are experiencing is exactly that; you are moving from one vibration to another, from one field of energy to another. In a SourcePoint training we experience together an energy field that is tangible and palpable, that is permeated by the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. What we call the Blueprint information is the specific information of health for the human body, and it exists within the universal energy field that gives rise to all form. When we gather together with the intention of connecting to this information, a specific field of energy is invoked; we enter into it and work in that context. That same field is present always and is invoked also when you hold the points by yourself, for yourself or another. However, the group energy and intention enhances the experience of re-connection to the Source. This connection to the cosmic intelligence that contains the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow is a profound experience of Source.

After dwelling in that field of wholeness and presence for two days, three days, a week, a return to “ordinary” life may bring sometimes a sense of let-down. Know that whenever you have an experience of profound Wholeness and Connection, when you experience that mysterious and wonderful network of energy that is everywhere, when you feel it in your body, see it with your eyes, touch it with your hands, you are transformed. You will never be the same again. The memory may fade, especially if you do not return for further work, or find some other way to re- experience that connection so vividly. The memory will fade, but that doesn’t matter. The experience is there at a deep level. You know you are not alone, you are not isolated, you are a unique manifestation of the universal energy and you belong to Source.

So we come to faith. This word is often used in a religious context. What does it mean when we speak of it in relation to energy work? Whenever you are dealing with that which is invisible, experiences that don’t make sense to the limited mind, there is an element of faith that is involved. When you return from a SourcePoint training you may have thoughts along these lines sometimes: “All right, here I am in my life. Sometimes I have wondrous experiences. I am overcome by the wonder and delight of seeing everything as connected, of having my intuitions about the nature of things confirmed, by being able to use this work and see its effect on people. At other times I can’t feel it. In the workshop I could feel the blockages so clearly. Sometimes now I am not sure. Before I could feel the information of the Blueprint working, and now I don’t feel it so strongly. It all seemed so real, and now I wonder. I doubt. I am not sure.”

This is the time to remember: that field is there whether you feel it or not. If you are standing there holding the points, you will feel it, sooner or later. You are connected, it is connected, everything is connected. Once again, as we say so often, it is not about you. It’s time to get out of the way again, to let go of thinking it’s about you. It’s not about your experience, what you feel or don’t feel, how good it feels, or how different it is, or how bad it feels to feel disconnected. It’s about the fact that the connection is there always and you are facilitating that connection by holding the points, in service of yourself or another. The connection cannot be broken or lost. Only your awareness of it fades some times. Don’t worry about it. You may long for that vivid experience of connection, completeness, and energy flow. And, yes, you can do various things to try to intensify your experience again, but really you can just wait it out, knowing that field is always present and that your experience of it will return.

Remember also that energy needs structure to flow freely at this level of existence. Flow and structure are intimately related. So providing a structure for the energy to flow will increase your awareness of it, intensify your experience of it. If you are working specifically with the practices of SourcePoint do some of them on a really regular basis, for yourself.

I now do the Guardian Points, Navel Point, and the single Source Point to the right of the body every day when I wake up, before getting up. It’s my morning meditation. I take my time with it, feeling myself connect to myself and that which is greater than and no other than myself, with Source. I experience the transition from sleep to waking. I feel the life energy circulate within me and around me. It chooses where to go, knows with unerring accuracy what needs attention. I relax into it and receive. Some days thoughts are running in my mind the whole time I do this. I barely notice the touch of the guardian points, the flow from the Navel Point. But it’s there, and as soon as I turn my attention fully to what is happening, the experience intensifies. And even if I don’t turn my attention there, I feel the benefit afterward.

With such a simple act you provide a structure that allows the energy of Source, of the Blueprint, to flow, and allows you to experience that flow regularly, vividly, in your own body consciousness. Think of the practices of SourcePoint as the stars in the sky that guide the navigator: fixed points that provide a guide for the energy to flow to you and in you, a channel for your intention of experiencing Source to manifest.

When you feel connected, that is experienced in the field of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. When you feel disconnected, that is experienced in the field of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. Whether you feel good or bad, energized or fatigued, up or down, it all takes place in that field. Awareness is the thread. Awareness allows you to move freely from one vibration to another, from one experience to another. Awareness helps you to experience that all this movement takes place within the larger context of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. The workshop is one unique experience with its own vibration, unrepeatable and completely itself. Your return home is another. Every moment has its energy, its pattern. No experience in this world of form can ever be repeated, so take time to appreciate the particular frequency of every experience.

Remember Indra’s net: the universe can be described as a vast net of light, connected in a grid by points of light, and at each point is a mirror reflecting every other mirror. Let your imagination, your heart, your spirit, open to that image. That net supports you whether you know it’s there or not. You are woven into that net, you are a thread in it, a point in it.

Go right now. Lie down. Invoke the Guardians. Do the Navel point. Hold the Source Point.

Remember, relax, open and receive.

You Are Energy

You are energy. You can’t have energy or not have enough energy because it’s not about having or not having. You are energy. For the rest of this month, we’ll be exploring this fact. Every talk/meditation is intended to help you realize that, at every level of body/mind/ spirit. I chose the image above because it represents the stillness from which movement arises. There is energy in the stillness of the bell, energy in the striking of it, and in the resonant sound that arises. Every moment, every thing, every breath, is filled with energy. In listening, in stillness, we enter into an awareness of pure energy that nourishes and sustains us when we emerge into movement and activity.

I recorded this outside, and you’ll hear the ravens and other birds participating, an occasional rustle of paper, and the echo of the wind that was non-stop in New Mexico for all of March, April and May. It’s all energy. Enjoy, and please feel free to share questions, insights, experiences through comments on this post. And for further experience, please see my book The Vibrant Life: Simple Meditations to Use Your Energy Effectively, Sentient Publications 2006.

For three weeks of June 2011 on the SourcePoint blog I’ll be offering a free series of audio talks and meditations based on my book The Vibrant Life: Simple Meditations to Use Your Energy Effectively (Sentient Publications 2006). These meditations are simple, practical methods of working with energy for your own benefit. This book preceded the emergence of SourcePoint Therapy, so the SourcePoint perspective will be an added element in this series for those of you who are already familiar with the meditations. Each week I’ll be discussing some basic principles of working with energy, and leading a guided meditation. You can listen at your leisure; everything will also be available for download.

I’ll be posting every Thursday; here’s the schedule with topics:

June 2: You Are Energy

June 9: Conserving Your Energy and Setting Boundaries

June 16: Recharging Your Energy

I hope you will join me and experience the benefit of working regularly with your energy. I’ll be taking questions through the comments so although we won’t be interacting in person I can give some guidance if needed. I’ve said before, and will say again: meditation in today’s world isn’t an esoteric practice; it’s a survival skill!

There will be regular post next week but then I won’t be posting again until June 2.

Note: this schedule was delayed. The first entry was posted as scheduled but the other two were posted in August 2011.

Getting Out of the Way & The Golden Triangle

By | Published:

As an energy work practitioner one of the most important skills to learn is that of getting out of the way. Getting out of the way means you don’t impose your own views or ideas. Rather, you respond to the unique being of each individual client.

People have their own modalities; often they have spent years acquiring and refining their skills, and this is good. The problem comes when people become attached to their information, their perspective, and end up seeing everything through that lens. Working from a SourcePoint perspective involves, in any situation, bringing to bear all the training and information one has, and then be willing to let go and be guided by the blueprint.

Here is a simple exercise that can help you get out of the way when working with a client. Imagine a light in the heart chakra of the client, and in your own heart chakra. Each of those lights is connected to a third light above you by a golden line. So the ray of golden light goes from your heart to the light above, and from the client to the light above, forming a triangle. This is an energetic pattern that symbolizes the connection of the client to that greater light, energy and healing information. It reminds you that your connection to the client is heart-based, but it is not your personal energy that is going to the client. You are connecting through the blueprint. You meet your client through that greater field of light, energy and healing information.

There are a number of specific ways of getting out of the way we’ll be covering.

The Crescent Moon and the Mother

By | Published:

The Crescent Moon is a wonderful and simple meditative practice that radiates support and grounds the energy of an individual in the earth plane.

The Crescent Moon may be helpful as an energetic support for an expectant mother as it brings a strong connection to the archetype or blueprint of the Mother. The Great Mother in many traditions is often shown with the crescent moon under her feet, or on her head. The waxing crescent moon is considered the symbol of the transition from Maiden to Mother. The crescent moon strengthens and supports the power of the Mother, in the universal sense and in the individual. When it is held beneath the feet, it represents the connection of heaven and earth, the bringing together the dimensions of subtle form where we find the blueprint, and the material dimension.

An expectant mother may find this a pleasant and nourishing meditation. Just lie or sit quietly and be aware of the rhythm of your breath. Cup your hands gently around your womb, in the pelvic area. This in essence forms the configuration of the crescent moon. Feel your hands on your womb, cradling the baby within you, nurturing yourself, and know that as you hold yourself and the child this way, you are connecting with the nourishing light, energy and information of the crescent moon, the archetype (blueprint, mandala) of the Mother. You are one with the Great Mother, that power of the feminine that gives birth to and nurtures life.
