Harmony

Reflecting on words, we bring their energies, qualities and vibrations more present. “The word” brings us closer to the energies it symbolizes; “the word” has the power to invoke its own meaning and actualize it in the manifest world. The ancients knew this. Indeed, one of the best known creation myths begins with the words “In the beginning was the word…”

And that word was what philosophers and theologians call Logos. The original meaning of this in ancient Greek is simply word, speech, or thought. It came to have implications of the divine ordering intelligence and principle behind everything, the word that was in the beginning. The structure and pattern of the cosmic order.

Which brings us to the Greek word Kosmos. The original meaning in Greek is “embroidery,” which implies “the orderliness and harmony of woven patterns with which the universe is embroidered and moves. Kosmos signified the honorable and ‘right behavior’ of the whole, the harmonious orchestration of the world’s pattern and processes.” (A Beginners Guide to Constructing the Universe, by Michael Schneider, )

“As re-stated by Plato, to discover kosmos in the world was to reveal kosmos in one’s own soul.” (The Passion of the Western Mind, Richard Tarnas) This is what we work with in SourcePoint, the reflection of the cosmic order within our own body, mind, and spirit.

In the philosophies and studies of ancient Greece, the inherent harmony of the universe was discovered by investigating the underlying ordered patterns, the mathematical relationships, that are the fabric of material reality, the kosmos. The Greek word harmonia means “fitting together.” (Beginners Guide, once again) When all things fit together in an ordered way, we have harmony.

When things fit together, work together, communicate with each other, dance together, play together, move together for the greater good, in the greater good, we have harmony. When our actions and relationships, our bodies and minds and spirits, are connected to and informed by the cosmic harmony, the cosmic order, then, things go well. When the systems of the body co-ordinate according to the principles of order inherent in kosmos, we have harmony.

Harmony is another word for equanimity. In these times, equanimity is essential. The waves of the world rise and fall, storm and subside, storm and subside, around us and within us. Emotions run high, demands are many. We live on information overload. There’s not enough time. People interact with their devices rather than each other. Stress is the norm.

Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow. Remember. It’s who we are. We experience that order and harmony in our breath, in our heartbeat, in the natural world, in the words themselves. We need to remind ourselves of that a million times a day these days, in order to maintain health, well-being, equanimity, and the capacity for responsible choice and action in the world.

Logos, Kosmos, Harmonia…..

Words for These Times

I’m dreaming only words
no image
radiant dark
streaming with words
that disappear upon awaking
mist in the morning sun.
Within us
canyons carved by the waters of experience
older than time
deeper than mind
flooded now
gates opened.
What I have learned in this life:
when the day seems dark
turn within
listen.
There is a voice beyond –
beyond thought, feeling, pain, fear and hope.
In the subliminal unworded spaces of night
Spirit speaks.
Remember
in the ancient rythyms
of life, of time, of the spirit, it is arranged so –
that each night, in the dark
we return home
to receive guidance
for the journey of the day,
the bringing of the light.

Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow: words for these times. Words that are needed when things of this world seem disordered, out of balance, out of harmony, polarized and stuck in old pattern. What is the place of SourcePoint in today’s world? This question has arisen often in my mind and heart recently. And the answer is simple. Its principles and practices connect us to that Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow beyond the disturbance of the material world. In every indigenous culture, there is the understanding that connection to that greater Order is essential for the world to survive and for people to live harmoniously with each other and all their relations of the earth. Many of us have lost that connection. Much of the suffering of those on this planet arises from that loss. This is a theme we hear often repeated these days.

Therefore, SourcePoint has much to offer, not by replacing longstanding ways of making that connection, but by helping those who have lost it to find it once again. More and more I understand that SourcePoint is not simply a set of protocols to be learned by therapists to help them in their healing work with others. That’s very important, and we receive a lot of feedback as to how effective it is in that.

But there’s a need in each one of us to connect with the fundamental Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow each day, each moment, over and over, just to stay sane and balanced and centered and strong, to be able to navigate the waters of a chaotic and transforming world, to move in alignment with positive forces of transformation. SourcePoint is at its root a meditative practice. When we do it for others, we enter into meditative states of awareness, getting out of the way, allowing that natural order to manifest and do its work, focusing on the Blueprint, not the illness but the inherent health.

When we practice it for ourselves, through meditating with the Diamond Points, with other of the practices, and/or by simply following the breath with the rhythm and the mantra of “Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow” we personally have the opportunity to enter into the state of meditative awareness, get out of our own way, and allow a natural state of order, harmony and peacefulness to arise within us. Then we are much more prepared to function in today’s world.

Nowhere in the external world are we going to find that peacefulness, except in nature, and even then, if our minds and hearts are disturbed, that energy can’t penetrate. And in no way can we act effectively in a disturbed world when our minds and hearts cannot find their center. There are countless ways to work with one’s mind and heart. In the coming year I would like to work more with people to experience SourcePoint as the valuable resource it is for working with oneself, not just with others. I’ll be focusing on that in my posts on this blog in coming months. We have a meditation retreat scheduled for the fall of 2017.

Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow.

May all beings be happy, peaceful and free of suffering.

Reflections from Awareness: Peace on Earth

Excerpt from an Awareness Session* with Bob and Donna, New Years Day, 2014

For the new year, let us speak about peace.

Peace is not the absence of conflict. Peace is found in the response to conflict. In the material world, conflict arises. It is in the nature of the material world that there will be tension between oppposites. There will be differing perspectives and points of view.

Peace means being able to harmonize, to adjust one’s frequency to the frequency of another, so that rather than two discordant notes, there is a harmony.

Peace involves self-sacrifice. Peace requires the sacrifice of aggression, domination and control, anger and greed and ignorance: the sacrifice of those forces within one to the greater good, the greater harmony, to the force of love and awareness.

Peace is the ultimate nature of Oneness. Meditation, prayer, and contemplation bring the experience of the universal peace, the underlying order, the essential harmony. People know that peace exists and desire to bring it to their lives in the world.

However, in a world of duality peace is not something that is going to just happen. Peace on earth or in one’s heart demands concentrated effort, an awareness of the greater good, an understanding of the interconnectedness of everything and the willingness to give up one’s own personal perspective when necessary to the greater good.

May there be peace on earth and in your heart.

May all beings be happy, peaceful and free of suffering.

*Awareness sessions are channeled readings that provided much of the original information of the SourcePoint principles and practices. Occasionally I will be sharing direct transcripts of Awareness sessions on this blog. In an Awareness Session I am in touch with and speaking for a greater Awareness, a consciousness not separate from my own, but able to see more deeply, clearly and without judgment or opinion, than I am able to in my ordinary consciousness. The field that is accessed is the field from which SourcePoint arose. Before every session I ask to be a clear channel for the light, energy and information that brings positive transformation. Every session has always begun and finished with the simple prayer: May All Beings Be Happy, Peaceful and Free of Suffering. The Blueprint as a Living Being

By | Published:

SourcePoint Day 3Blackboard Drawing by Bob Schrei, Module 3, July 16, 2012

We are in the midst of a Module Three right now, exploring the principle of the Blueprint, working with deepening our relationship to the Blueprint for the benefit of our own health and that of others.

The foundation of SourcePoint, its core, its central organizing principle, is the Blueprint. The essential premise of SourcePoint Therapy is that there is a body of information, inherent in the universal energy field, which consists of the information of health for the human being. We can connect to that Blueprint information for the benefit of our own health and that of others. When we strengthen our connection to the Blueprint, we access the energy and information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow from which life arises and which sustains and maintains life.

As practitioners deepen their understanding of the Blueprint and how to strengthen that connection, here’s what happens. They realize they have a relationship with that Blueprint. The term “blueprint” can sound very abstract, distant, theoretical, conceptual. In fact, the Blueprint is a tangible energetic reality. It exists in what we can call a dimension of subtle energetic form, an intermediary state between form and pure spirit-energy-consciousness. It is a reality as much as you or I. It has qualities. It’s sentient, aware, intentional, and focused. It has qualities. It loves.

The inherent intention of the Blueprint, its sole purpose in existing, is to provide the matrix that gives rise to life, to nourish life and sustain life. To me, this sounds like love! The Blueprint is always there, always supporting us, always caring for us, to put it in our ordinary human language.

People often ask, then, is the Blueprint for human health a fixed, eternal reality, or does it evolve as human beings evolve? I think Bob’s answer for that is precise and to the point. It is fixed, just as the North Star is fixed. In the Northern Hemisphere, you can use the North Star to navigate by. People have been doing that since time immemorial. It’s considered a fixed point, a reference point. And yet the position of the North Star does change, a little bit, every 10,000 years or so. So the Blueprint changes over long, long time. But, it’s reliable and consistent. By our usual human standards, it’s fixed.

So, we can orient ourselves to and with the Blueprint, returning over and over again to the awareness of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow. The sense of the Blueprint becomes a reference point, a central organizing principle for all your energy work, no matter how many different modalities you may practice. It’s dependable, it responds. Integrate the Diamond Points into your practice, and see the results. Things happen. That’s how we begin to trust the reality of it.

Like any relationship, relationship with the Blueprint requires careful cultivation, attention, a certain degree of trust and willingness to open to a reality greater than your own ordinary mind; it requires letting go of judgment. We want to get to know people better because in some way we’re attracted to them. People come to SourcePoint trainings because they’re attracted by the Blueprint. It asks you to give it a chance, to see what can happen.

The breath provides a wonderful, simple way to access the Blueprint. It reflects all the qualities we have just been reflecting on. The breath nourishes, sustains, and supports you every second of every day of your life. It brings Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow to your whole system. Taking a few moments during your day to tune into your breath, experience its natural rhythm and repeat the words Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow, instantly brings connection to the Blueprint. Your breath is the Blueprint at work. And with every inhalation, you experience the vibrancy, the potency, the life of that Blueprint.

Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow

By | Published:

bob-OBHFOrder, Balance, Harmony, Flow

by Bob Schrei

Life is a delicate balancing act. “Life exists on the edge of chaos and order.” I can’t even reference this quote because so many biologists, systems theorists, and other thinkers and researchers have now made some such statement. What are the implications of this for SourcePoint Therapy? We connect with the Blueprint of health, the information of Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, in the universal energy, to sustain and nourish the individual body. Is there a chance of bringing too much Order, of upsetting that delicate balance?

Source, Grounding, Activation, Transformation. These are the names of the four Diamond Points that form the most fundamental practice of SourcePoint Therapy. Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow. These are the qualities associated with each point.

The very source of our being, the universal energy-information matrix from which we arise, contains the information of the ordering forces necessary to sustain and nourish life. When we access the information of the Blueprint through the Source Point, we access the ordering force that will precisely restore that delicate Balance at which life thrives. The Grounding point, that second point below the feet, grounds the information of the Blueprint in the physical plane, the physical body, bringing Balance to the whole system. Bringing Balance is the first crucial action of the Blueprint; from a ground of Balance life can flourish and thrive.

The Activation point activates the information of Order and Balance in the body. This brings Harmony, the quality associated with the third point. Harmony results when exactly the right notes are struck; it is present at that exquisitely balanced point where life occurs. Life is harmony; health is harmony, no one note dominating, nothing out of tune.

The Transformation Point is associated with Flow. A healthy system will have a healthy, self-regulated flow of information and energy arising from the connection to the fundamental universal Order. Flow is potentially chaotic. Energy can flood, can overpower and overwhelm. Uncontained release can be very uncomfortable. In SourcePoint Therapy, we don’t work only with Flow. You can rephrase the quote above to say: Life exists as a delicate balance between structure and flow. In SourcePoint Therapy we access the information of Order from the Blueprint to facilitate a healthy, balanced, harmonious flow of energy within the physical and energetic structures of the body. Order and Flow are not opposites: they are a unity.

If we understand deeply the principle and the practice of the Blueprint, we know its information will protect and sustain that exact point of delicate balance that gives rise to life. That’s its nature and intention. It will harmonize the system. The Order of the Blueprint is not a rigid, static imposed order.

Order, Balance, Harmony, Flow: it’s a mantra helpful in today’s world. I often just repeat those words, feeling their vibration throughout my whole being. It helps me harmonize myself with myself, those around me, the world. I can feel how my body-mind-spirit craves that harmony, is hungry for it, how my whole being relaxes in the wonderful field that comes present when I take time to connect to Source.

Remembering the Earth and Ourselves

Green Tara

This week I am drawn to re-connect with two of the audio meditations. The first is the Guardians of the Earth, and the second is the fundamental SourcePoint Meditation. It feels to me as though the energies of the next few weeks are asking us to pay special attention to bringing in the information of Order, Balance, Harmony, and Flow, to take good care of ourselves and the earth that is our home, to do what we can to balance our energies, both personal and global. I plan to spend a lot of time with these meditations in the coming weeks. I invite you to join me. You don’t have to follow the letter of what I’ve said in the meditations. Explore. Create. Imagine. Love your life on this earth, in this body.

Musings on Motherhood and SourcePoint

By | Published:
Liam, Elizabeth, Kieran, and Finn

Liam, Elizabeth, Kieran, and Finn

This week, we have a guest blogger, Elizabeth Eilers Sullivan. Elizabeth is a writer and mother of three young children. She recently attended a SourcePoint Therapy Module One workshop in Santa Fe and shared some of her experiences following the workshop with me. I wanted to share them here because of their specific reference to using SourcePoint with children, and in parenting, but also because she is talking about ways in which the SourcePoint principles can be integrated into one’s life. Thanks, Elizabeth!

I received a call from a friend today who said, “I don’t know about you, but it’s been crazy around here.” She sounded tired and spent. I recognized the emotion and the tone. That used to be me more than I care to recall. Later that afternoon, I found myself at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum. Surrounded by tons of kids, keeping an eye on my three, I noticed that I was doing the Diamond Points of SourcePoint Therapy to ground myself and feel secure in the chaos.

As I sat on the steps watching each of my kids engage in a different activity I contemplated how much sense SourcePoint makes to a mom: what mom doesn’t desire order? What mom doesn’t crave balance? What mom doesn’t hope for harmony? And what mom does not enjoy a day that flows? When I do these four points I notice my body relax, my mind calm, and a presence of energy to deal with whatever situation is at hand. Sometimes I imagine my home has a navel and I cast the four points around my home while I clean, trying to bring order. Or while I hope that my boys continue to cultivate a harmonious nature with one another, especially on the days or moments when harmony between them feels far. Other times I look at our family life to see how we can instill more balance, and when energy gets stuck, more flow.

Donna Thomson poses this question in one of her SourcePoint blogs, “What does the situation at hand need now, more order, balance, harmony, or flow?” This question continues to help me as I grow as a mother. As I continue to grow as a human””holding the points aids me into a calmer reality.

I have also taught the points to my boys, and they use the points when they need to feel more contained. Frequently, they ask me to hold the four Diamond Points at bed and then their navel point. On my five year-old, Finn, this puts him to sleep in no time. However with our three year-old, Liam, I noticed that when I do his navel point he gets giddy and more excited, so instead of the navel point at bedtime, I hold his sacral point and this is grounding for him, aiding him into a relaxed state. Our fifteen month old, Kieran, loves the navel point and often goes from a crying baby, whose diaper is hard to change, to a laughing babe who will readily cooperate in a diaper change.

Sometimes I will hear Finn say, “Order, balance, harmony, and flow” to himself as he is doing something and see him put his hand out to hold his points. On the cusp of kindergarten, I have begun to talk to him about being able to just say the words to himself and imagine the gold points as he connects to the blueprint of health and information. For him going from the concrete to the imaginative does not take much but some supportive explanation. I want him to be able to hold his points as he ventures more and more out into the world of school and intentionally chosen activities where he might feel a need for comfort or support.

A pitfall to all of this is that I may be eager to hold their points when they are in distress before they are ready to let go of the intense emotion they are feeling. This is counterproductive and also out of sync with the intent of SourcePoint. I caught myself asking Finn and Liam while they were crying if they wanted me to hold their points, or if they wanted to, and they replied with disdain, “No!” I thought how inconsiderate of me to try to move them through this experience to peace sooner than they were ready because that is what I craved.

When my husband, Peter, recently left for a business trip, I held our youngest in our arms as we waved goodbye to his car pulling away. I felt sad and Kieran was crying for Peter reaching out after him. I automatically did the points for myself, and noticed something amazing: that it had a calming affect not only on me, but on my baby. I created a field of health, information and support that enwrapped both of us. This makes me realize the impact it can have on a situation with my children. By holding the points for myself, this can help shift the energetic field in a room without imposing or trying to control it. It invokes and invites order, balance, harmony, and flow. By teaching this to my children it provides them with self-healing resources they can tap into, and creates an awareness of their own energy levels. By continuing to use this energy medicine we tap into the web of life; as Donna Thomson says, “What we do to ourselves we do to the web of life.”

For those of you who have not attended a SourcePoint Therapy training, listening to the SourcePoint Audio Meditation is a good introduction to the practices Elizabeth is referring to.

COSMIC-ROSE-BERKELEY

It’s spring equinox, when light and dark are in perfect balance. What better time to pause and connect with the healing light, energy and information of Source? Here’s a meditation that works with the basic principles and practices of SourcePoint Therapy to connect with the fundamental Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow of the universal energy.

Return of the LIght

Meditation can strengthen your immune system.

So in this time, as we approach the solstice, the return of the light, why not meditate with the transformative light, energy and information of the mandala realm? Why not invoke the guardian energies of light to help you stay healthy through the winter season?

In this meditation you invoke Order, Balance, Harmony and Flow, the fundamental information from which all life arises, the foundation of health that we refer to as the blueprint. Your mind and body can experience a direct connection to that information of the blueprint, or, we could say, to those guardian energies of mandala realm.

Take a moment now, after you have read this, to close your eyes and imagine in front of you, in a field of white light, a golden circle, a golden triangle and a golden square.

If you visualize easily you can actually see these figures. If you don’t, you can simply sense them, or tell yourself that they are there. Let the mind dwell on each form: the circle, the triangle, and the square. Imagine the square as order, the triangle as balance and the circle as harmony. Repeat the words, order, balance, and harmony to yourself.

After spending a few moments with these images, allow them to dissolve away into golden light. They become fluid, flowing golden light that flows around you and into you, surrounds you and permeates you. Repeat to yourself the word flow. You can feel that flow fill your body. This is the light and warmth of life, the vital life force. It is the light of the sun. It supports, strengthens and nourishes you. Perhaps the particular figure becomes a wave, or a spiral. Allow that wave to flow over you and into you. Breathe it in, feel the energy of it. The order of the universe, of health, is not some fixed and static state. It is a flow coalescing into form, moving through and in form.

Body and spirit are not two; body and mind are not two. What is called mind is in every cell of the body. That is why imagination, visualization and thought are so powerful in activating the body’s self-healing capacity. Right now at this very moment, even before you close your eyes and try this meditation, even as you read the words, that light is active.

You can experiment with imagining these figures in front of you, appearing in a field of light. You can imagine them around you, drawn in the ground. You can play with them and make them three-dimensional. Combined, they create cones and pyramids, cubes and spheres, and many other multi-dimensional structures. The golden circle, triangle, and square are doorways to the mandala realm with its healing light, energy and information. These geometric forms with their inherent order and balance are representations of ordering energies that are tied to no one culture, time or place. They are universal forms that reflect universal principles.

Intention and the Diamond Points

By | Published:

k0387121

The four Diamond Points that are the foundation of SourcePoint practice clearly express the intention of our energy work. These four points are the Source, Grounding, Activation, and Transformation Points. In SourcePoint Therapy our intention is simply to connect to Source and its information of order, balance, harmony and flow; ground and awaken that information on this plane of existence, particularly in individual human beings; and activate this information in the human body to bring transformation and balance.

Intention and activation are closely related. Attention is the essence of intention. When you focus on something, you activate it. (As a metaphor, think quantum physics here: a particle comes into being when it is observed). When holding the activation point, be aware of your intention to activate the information of Source in this individual being. It can be helpful to actually say to yourself (or the client if appropriate) at this point: our intention here is to activate this information in the physical body for the purpose of positive transformation.

Again, the natural intention of the blueprint is to maintain order, balance, harmony and flow. From this perspective, intention isn’t something you do; it’s a natural flow you enter into.

We’ll look at specifics of getting into and out of the way of that flow next week. I’m trying to keep these posts fairly brief, as I know how precious time is these days.
