Where Did SourcePoint Therapy Come From?

People often ask, where did SourcePoint Therapy® come from? How did you know where the points were and what they were for? The answer is, the information came from the same information/energy field that we work with in SourcePoint. The points told us about themselves. The information was there, in the universal field, waiting to be accessed. The principles of SourcePoint are not unique to SourcePoint Therapy. Many healing and spiritual traditions understand and work with the Blueprint. Before SourcePoint Therapy, there was the Blueprint. The information emerged in what we call Awareness sessions with Donna, and then, Bob worked intensively with the information in his private practice, evolving the practices that were originally described in Awareness sessions.

The next question that usually follows is, what is an Awareness session? The following excerpt from Chapter 12 of the SourcePoint book, written by Donna,  contains a brief discussion of this.

“One day in 1995, Bob and I sat down together with the intention of doing an Awareness session in relation to his Rolfing® work. What’s an Awareness session? It’s the work I’ve personally done with people for years, long before SourcePoint. In these sessions I access light, energy and information for the benefit of others. I am in touch with and speaking from an information-energy field I simply call the Awareness. This Awareness sees more deeply, widely and with greater perception than is possible for me in my ordinary consciousness. People might describe this as channeling, but as the process has evolved, I have come to see it differently. A spirit being does not enter into me, as channels say when they describe their work; rather, I enter into a greater Awareness, a consciousness beyond my ordinary one, yet not separate from it.

In this particular session on this particular day, Bob wanted to explore what could be done to help a client who wasn’t getting better. This person would experience some improvement, but it wouldn’t hold. Anyone who does any kind of therapeutic work or who has gone through a healing process knows this is not an uncommon situation. We wanted to explore in Awareness what could be done to help the work hold better.

Beginning that day, through this process of entering into a greater Awareness, the points revealed themselves and told us what they were for. To some, this may make our approach seem unscientific, esoteric, and difficult to prove. From a modern, Western, rational mindset this would be so. However, human culture has a long history of receiving guidance either directly from Source, or from intermediaries. In the past, channeling has been equated with possession by a spirit or entity. Oracles go into trances. Mediums contact the dead. Shamans journey to other realms or dimensions. While all of these are time-honored traditions and ways of accessing information from a greater consciousness, to acknowledge this path as a source of information in today’s world can be to invite scorn, derision and dismissal.

Perhaps in the 21st century, in light of what we know of the quantum universe, we need to reconsider this attitude. First, we could redefine what is commonly called channeling. Perhaps such a process is simply accessing the all-encompassing energy-information field in which we dwell. We know so little, really, about consciousness, the brain, the body and the universe. We discover more every day. Perhaps we are so intimately connected to the meta-energy-information field that if we just tune in we can receive all kinds of information. Could intuition simply be attunement to that field? As scientists explore the brain, body, and universe, we may each come to know ourselves as channels, open to the greater consciousness, able to connect with and enter into that universal energy-information field and access the information stored there.

So, together, through what we call Awareness sessions, Bob and I found the principles and practices of SourcePoint.”
